Overall Alignment with NEP 2020

The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 stresses the importance of developing foundational skills in young children through play-based learning, experiential activities and individualized attention. At Modern Academy, we adhere to these principles by fostering a well-rounded education that integrates cognitive, physical and socio-emotional development. Our curriculum is designed to not only lay the foundation for academic learning but also promote creativity, emotional intelligence and critical thinking, ensuring children are well-prepared for the challenges of the future while embodying the values outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

Classes I & II (Aligned with NEP 2020 Approach)

At Modern Academy, the education journey continues into Classes I and II, where the emphasis shifts toward more structured learning while still incorporating the core principles of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The goal is to nurture a holistic, well-rounded development, laying a strong academic foundation while promoting critical thinking, creativity and emotional intelligence. In line with National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the curriculum for Classes I and II combines foundational literacy and numeracy with experiential, inquiry-based learning. The inclusion of subjects such as music, dance, tabla, taekwondo and STEM learning ensures that children engage in a variety of activities that stimulate their intellectual, physical and emotional growth. These activities not only encourage creativity and teamwork but also help children develop essential life skills, discipline and resilience.

Key Activities in Classes I & II:

  • Foundation Literacy and Numeracy: As children progress in their academic journey, they continue to build on their reading, writing and mathematical skills. The curriculum uses interactive and engaging methods to strengthen understanding, ensuring that literacy and numeracy foundations are robust by the time students transition into higher grades.
  • STEAM Learning: In line with the National Education Policy’s (NEP) 2020 emphasis on scientific temper and inquiry-based learning, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) education is integrated into the curriculum to foster problem-solving, critical thinking and innovation. Students explore core concepts through hands-on projects, experiments and creative problem-solving tasks, incorporating the arts to encourage creativity and holistic learning. This approach nurtures a love for learning while developing essential skills for the future.
  • Experiential Learning: Students participate in real-life activities such as field trips, role plays and classroom discussions, which help them connect theoretical knowledge with practical applications.
  • Storytelling & Creative Expression: Building on the foundation laid in the earlier years, storytelling continues to be a core activity, with a greater emphasis on writing and verbal communication. Creative expression through art, drawing and craft enhances fine motor skills and imagination.
  • Cultural Awareness and Mindfulness: Exposure to various cultural practices, festivals and mindfulness activities helps foster respect, empathy and social-emotional growth.
  • Dance/Music/Tabla:
    • Dance helps improve rhythmic coordination, physical fitness and emotional expression. Students explore various dance forms, fostering creativity, focus and self-confidence. Through movement and rhythm, they enhance their motor skills while expressing emotions and telling stories.
    • Music education focuses on improving memory, concentration and listening skills. Students explore different musical styles and instruments, which help build a deep appreciation for music. Learning music enhances cognitive development and fosters creativity, emotional expression, and focus.
    • Learning tabla develops hand-eye coordination, rhythm and a deep appreciation for music. It also enhances focus, listening skills and the ability to work harmoniously with others.
  • Students can choose one of these activities to help nurture their artistic talents and cognitive development.

  • Physical Education: At Modern Academy, we prioritize physical activity as a key aspect of holistic development. Our physical education curriculum promotes fitness, coordination and well-being, while fostering important values like discipline, teamwork, respect and resilience. In line with National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, we offer a balanced and engaging program for all students. Taekwondo plays a central role, enhancing physical fitness, flexibility and coordination, while teaching respect, perseverance and self-control. Through taekwondo, students develop self-confidence, focus and discipline, boosting both mental and physical stamina.
